LET’S CELEBRATE SENIORS WEEK

 

Claremont Town Centre has a range of events and special offers to celebrate our seniors.

From November 11 to 15, a range of events, activities and offers will be held across the week to acknowledge seniors and show our appreciation for their valued contribution to our community.

Monday 11 November

Remembrance Day is a day is marked in every Australian’s calendar due the importance it holds in our history. What better way to start off Seniors Week than to commemorate those who served and fought for their country. Whether you yourself are a veteran or you want to show your appreciation, all are welcome at the Town of Claremont’s Remembrance Day service at Claremont War Memorial. It will be held from 10.30am – 11.30am with a light morning tea following the service.

SHINE Community Services are putting on a free seminar which helps to support independent living from 12.30pm – 1.30pm. This is an informative session which aims to provide information regarding the services available to you and those you love, from shopping and personal assistance, to transport, social activities and small maintenance requests. They want to help you, so don’t be afraid to ask.

Tuesday 12 November

Need to put your feet up after a long day? As part of Seniors Week, Mitch Bath of Peak Podiatry along with Athlete’s Foot Claremont will be there to help you with your footcare needs with a free footcare check clinic from 10am – 11am. If you need to discuss any aches or pains, diabetic footcare just need of some new shoes, register for the free clinic today. All participants will also take home a goodie bag.

Today, technology is at the forefront of everything we do, however it can be very hard to understand it. Wednesday 13 November

Do you have a passion for music and food? Enjoy a concert put on by Zenith Music at their private auditorium followed by a luncheon at Nolita Italian Café (sold out) for just $20 per person. If lunch isn’t up your alley and you just want to listen to great music, then you can just attend the concert, for only $5 per person. The concert will commence at 10.30am, with the lunch starting at 12.00pm.

Thursday 14 November

Take part in low-impact exercise and socialise while you at it, with Claremont Cruisers and health professionals from GPs on Bay View. Namaste today with Tamara Yoga Studio. Relax and unwind in a calm and supportive environment with free yoga classes throughout Seniors Week. There’s something for everyone with both beginners classes and classes for all levels. Find your centre and attend the 7.30am class on Thursday or this this time doesn’t suit you try Tuesday 12th November at 7.30am or 9.15am if you enjoy a sleep-in.

Friday 15 November

As the excitement of Seniors Week comes to a close for another year, why not wind down in the water with aqua aerobics. A gentle yet effective form of exercise in the comfort of a 28°C pool will help to improve circulation, build strength and endurance as well as lower your blood pressure and relieve muscle tension and pain. These free classes will be run at Claremont Aquatic Centre from 8.30am-9.15am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the duration of Seniors Week.

Love the idea of social sport? Join us at the Claremont Bowling Club from 3pm-5.30pm for lawn bowls, banter and bites. Enjoy grazing boards and a free drink on arrival as you catch up with old friends or meet new friends.
