Mayor's message

Claremont Ahead - town of Claremont

Mayor Jock Barker

October Update

Dear residents,

The 2023 local government elections are now complete and four Councillors have been elected to serve a four-year term with the Town of Claremont. I would like to congratulate former elected members Ryan Brown, Kate Main, and Annette Suann on being re-elected, and Graham Cameron on his first election to the position of Councillor. I look forward to working with you all in the future.

Thank you to everyone who voted in the election this year. Your passion for the Claremont community drives our own, and we will continue to work hard and build upon the great foundation that we have as the number one local government in Western Australia.

Seniors Week

WA Seniors Week runs from 12-19 November 2023, and celebrates the contributions of seniors in our community. The Town will be hosting a range of free and ticketed events, including Yoga in the Park, a home security information session, free hearing checks, and a guided tour of Claremont’s historical buildings. Visit the events page on our website for more information and to book your tickets.

Fashionable Stories

The latest exhibition at the Claremont Museum, Fashionable Stories, will display fascinating and iconic clothing worn by well known and local community members from the Freshwater Bay area. The stories behind these outfits, why they were chosen, and what they can tell us about the wearer and the time period will be retold for a limited time.

Fashionable Stories opens on Monday 30 October and will run until April 2024. Entry is free.

Next Ordinary Council Meeting

The next Council meeting will be Tuesday 31 October 2023. Please visit our council meetings page for more details.

Regards,
